Michelle & Ollie’s Winter Wedding

A LE PETIT CHATEAU WINTER WEDDING
A Le Petit Chateau Winter Wedding is something I won’t forget in a hurry! Michelle & Ollie’s big day happened to be taking place right in the middle of one of the worst winter storms in recent memory.
The aptly named ‘Beast from the East’ provided a challenge to all involved in simply getting this amazing wedding to go ahead in the first place. With severe weather warnings in place I decided to travel to Le Petit Chateau a day earlier and stay over night to make sure I made it in time.
Despite this the road to Otterburn was hampered by huge snow drifts making the drive not only slow but very dangerous. About 3 or 4 miles from Le Petit Chateau I was forced to stop alongside another vehicle and to wait for assistance from local farmers with snow ploughs. As I waited, a little worried I could go no further, a convoy of cars appeared…Michelle and Ollie and some of their family and friends arrived! At least now if I was to be stuck I’d be with the bridal party.
Eventually helped arrived from a couple local heroes and we eventually made it to Le Petit Chateau for well deserved beer and some hot food.
The following day with the weather still no better and with a number of guests still to arrive, including the florist and registrar, it was touch and go to whether or not the nuptials would go ahead. Despite this Michelle was totally relaxed and positive throughout…helped along by her fab sister Laura. Eventually, with help again from the snow ploughs, most guests made it on time and it was all systems go!!
I’d like to give a big shout out to Michelle, Ollie, their family and friends, all the staff at Le Petit Chateau, the local farmers/residents and all of the other suppliers involved in helping to pull together to get the wedding to go ahead. I’d also like to thank Val at The Butterchurn Guest House for putting me up for two nights at such short notice. A real team effort helped beat ‘The Beast from the East’ and the whole event even made it to the pages of the Hexham Courant!
Here is my view on how the day progressed…
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Meikle. If you are getting married and like the way in which I capture weddings then feel free to get in touch to see how I can help capture your day 🙂
